Mineral Basics began in 2004 as a means to provide all natural cosmetics to people with all skin types and tones across the globe. I personally had dealt with self-esteem-deflating skin issues for most of my life: terrible acne, inflamed skin, oiliness AND dryness, flaky skin, etc. I happily discovered mineral makeup and began manufacturing my own brand. I simply could not find the exact formula I wanted in a foundation, so I had to make my own.

I have hyper-sensitive skin myself, and couldn't wait to try Mineral Basics! I've been using my products for about a week now, and haven't had any flareups.

I had the chance to review sample size products. As a busy full-time working and married mom to a teenager, my mornings are rushed to say the least. I've pared my makeup routine down to basics - fresh, clean skin, a very light foundation to hide the redness and dark circles, and full eye makeup so the rest of the world doesn't know I'm going on 4 hours of sleep. I selected all eye products as I have deep set eyes that tend to look sunken, and paired with zombie white skin and chronic dark circles, they need all the help they can get :)

I received 16 samples to try: time-trance - a bright lemon yellow; mer-tresses - a muted, smoky plum, mauve, brown; kingdom-rule - taupe brown with subtle golden lights throughout; dragonfly-wing - a shimmer green with brown and golden lights; elven-wood - a neutral green with soft golden lights; feline-familiar - A yellowy-green; hidden-creatures - a deep teal blue with super subtle hints of purple; water-myth - a muted teal green; and twilight-garden - a smokey bluish green (eyeliner). These are all part of the Enchanted Fantasy line - They are all shimmery, brilliant, wearable shades that resemble the myriad of stunning hues you'd see in an enchanted forest full of elves, fairies, unicorns, even mermaids and dragons!

I also received Nectar (Multi Use Satin); Dark Chocolate; Eggplant, Vanilla (Multi-Use Matte Color); Pink-to-Gold and Emerald Fire (Multi Use Shimmer Colors). All colors were selected by Mineral Basics (I don't know who chose these - but THANK YOU! They are a perfect complement for my pale skin and green eyes). I haven't been this excited by makeup since highschool! I'm a neutral girl, and have shyed away from bright colors for years. I have had a lot of fun mixing these - I've even been layering multi colors for a water color effect. A few of these are neutral (dark chocolate, vanilla) but the Enchanted Fantasy colors are a vibrant, eyepopping collection. I love how I can control the intensity - muted for work, or built up to an eye-catching pop for weekends. They go on silky smooth and last for hours.
