Perfect for Valentine's Day!
I love crafty th
ings, and as my life tends to be ruled by Murphy's Law, I LOVE easy crafty things :)
I had the chance to try out Creativity for Kids Shrinky Dinks I Love You Cards (SHRINKY DINKS!!!), and this kit is fun, easy, and it has Shrinky Dinks! Ok, so I sound a bit off balance, but I love Shrinky Dinks! I was insane for them when I was little, and when Brit was little, we'd often make these together and giggle at how they curled and wiggled and shrunk to a third of their size. And, they were just as fun as we remember :)This kit has everything you need to make a dozen adorable handmade cards, perfect for valentines day, but can also be used for other occasions as the cards are blank inside and most of the Shrinky Dinks aren't Valentine specific. I could see this as a fun activity at a birthday party, where each girl colors one or two charms, watches them shrink, and then decorates a card (or two!) to take home.
The kit comes complete with blank cards, ribbons to thread through pre-punched holes, colored pencils to color your Shrinky Dinks (they even include a pencil sharpener!), foam sticky dots to adhere your finished charms with, pink glittery stickers and envelopes.
And yes, Murphy's Law ruled even this craft :) I knew they had to bake, so I did read the instructions, well, the "preheat oven and pan to 350" part, but didn't read all of them until we'd colored all of our Shrinky Dinks and the oven was good and hot. Step 1 - Line pan with foil. Hmm... out of foil, meant to grab some while I was at the store last weekend, but walked out $50.00 poorer and no tinfoil. But, I did have a grill liner left, which was tinfoil, it just had lots of holes :) Step 2. Sprinkle lightly with baby powder. Baby Powder? Corn starch it is :) The Shrinky Dinks came out perfect, and the cards are super cute.

awesome! i would pick the Money Monster Banks (#1622) kit.
ReplyDeletei would recommend to the sellers that they might want to sort their listings a little more - going thru 24 pages of unsorted kits is a lot to ask most moms! would be easier if they were divided into categories (like boys, girls, age ranges, refills, etc).
