I have naturally curly hair, that frizzes into a major puff ball in the humidity. I usually wear it natural (blow drying to tame some of it) or pull it into a pony tail when it's super humid (basically all of July and August here in Iowa). I first straightened my hair a couple of years ago - we were on vacation in Nebraska and heading to the zoo for the day and I had just wasted 10 minutes of my life trying to pull my super size poof ball into a ponytail when Brittany (my daughter) finally took pity on me and whacked it into submission with her flat iron :) After that, I started straightening to tame it in the summer, and when I wanted a sleeker look than my natural curls. Actually, Brittany straightened it as I could never wield the flat iron without dropping it or burning my ear. While Brit's flat iron definitely made for a sleeker, smoother finish, I'd have to repeat halfway thorough the day to keep it sleek. Plus, my hair never became stick straight, just really wavy.

I had the chance to review Misikko's Hana Professional 1" Flat Iron - Pink Edition and learned two things the very first time I used it - 1. I could straighten my own hair! The shape and weight of this is super easy to use, and takes very little time (I can do my hair in under 10 minutes!) - I've never dropped it or burned my ear :) Brittany's sigh of relief at being relived from helping me straighten my hair was most impressive :) My two favorite features of this iron would have to be the adjustable heating setting - 140 - 450 degrees for all hair types, and the eight foot swivel salon cord. The adjustable heat setting prevents damage from occurring - I avoid the highest setting, setting it at 370 occasionally when I want super straight, but usually keep it between 230 and 302 for smooth, sleek waves. I don't have to straighten half way through my day, as the style holds all day. 2. There really, truly is a difference between professional and store brand flat irons - my hair actually turned out stick straight at 370 degrees. Plus, my hair feels super soft, and looks super shiny.

The Hana Professional 1" Flat Iron, Pink Edition, arrived luxuriously packaged, complete with white roses and a small, pink, satin bag containing an extra bonus - logo emery boards and hand sanitizer. I love the included heat proof silicone mat and heat proof storage pouch - I don't have to leave the straightener out to cool before putting it away, something that always drove me nuts as I hate cluttered vanity tops.
